Accessibility Statement

Why Accessibility?

Accessibility is a hot topic at the moment. As new technologies have emerged, so have new types of internet user. Advances in screen reader technology has enabled users with disabilities to access website content more effectively and the widespread use of mobile phones and other hand-held devices means that websites are now being experienced in a variety of different ways. Therefore it's become increasingly important to build websites that cater for these new types of users and technologies.

I've tried to make this site as accessible as possible so that it complies with the W3C standards. If you find anything that needs improvement, please let me know.

Accesskeys

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. This is a potentially very useful feature for many users. However, access keys often conflict with keyboard shortcuts defined by the browser or operating system. Because of this, Kucha Design does not use access keys. More information on the problems related to access keys is available in the blog post Accesskey problems remain in XHTML 2.

Standards compliance

This site is built using valid XHTML 1.0 Strict styled with CSS. If you check any page on this site with the W3C HTML Validator there should be no errors.

A modern web browser like Firefox, Safari or Opera is needed to make the most out of this site, but thanks to the separation of content and presentation it should be accessible to any browsing device, including Internet Explorer.

Links

Many links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target (such as the headline of an article).

There are no javascript pseudo-links on this site. All links can be followed in any browser, even if scripting is turned off. There are no links that open new windows without warning.
